Automated Centrifuge Module EC1™
Automated centrifugation as part of complete automation
The Centrifuge Module EC1 works tubewise and forms a perfect completion of the front-end automation process. The input area consists of a tray with 5 position racks and a loading capacity of up to 150 tubes. The tube type will be identified through Tube Type Identification via Cap Recognition by a camera. After detection the tube type will be selected and the tubes will be loaded in batches into the centrifuge buckets. The EC1 loads the buckets automatically into the centrifuge and unloads after centrifugation. Samples that should not be centrifuged are passed on to the output area or to the next connected system. Centrifugation will start either with a full batch or via programmable timer in slower hours. For a run with an odd number of primary tubes, dummy tubes will be loaded in order to balance the load. As soon as the samples are centrifuged, the system unloads the centrifuge and the samples will be transfered to the next connected Roche PVT-system (RSD Pro). Unnecessary delays between the centrifugation runs will be avoided. The Centrifuge Module EC1 has a throughput of up to 380 sample tubes per hour for centrifugation.
